Here's everything that you need to know about both the camp and the tree planting at Lough Dan Scout camp this Saturday and Sunday 26th & 27th February
Where?
You can find Lough Dan Scout on Google maps. Here it is. It's about 50 minutes drive from the den via M50. You are allowed to carpool again :-)
Cost?
The camping is 10 euros per cub. You can give this to a leader in cash in an envelope with your child's name on Saturday or revolut it to Oran via http://revolut.me/oranavljf with your child's name in the message.
There's no cost for those just attending the Sunday events thanks to the unit subsidising food cost. Plus most people have bought trees anyway.
Start and finish times?
Saturday
Campers to arrive at Lough Dan at 3pm on Saturday.
Sunday
Everyone else to arrive at Lough Dan by 1030am as we'll have a busy day planned! First there's the tree planting and then cubs will run bases for the beavers and cubs will cook food for up to 100 people. Exciting!
Finish time is 3pm on the Sunday, but campers may need to stay a little beyond that to help take down the last of the camp. Also we'll expect campers and their parents to come back to the den to put things away with us. Many hands making light work, etc..
What to bring?
Campers
All campers need to have a completed consent form to allow them to do an overnight activity. You can print it out from here and we'll have a few hard copies on Saturday in case parents are unable to print them out.
If your cub will be taking medication on camp, you need to fill out the managing medication form from here and give it to a leader at the start of camp. Again, we'll have a few spare copies on the day.
Here's the full camping gear list for the campers as previously sent out. Please note the addition of a camping chair / picnic blanket to the list as everyone will need one as we'll have limited seating, particularly on Sunday.
Also while you might want to give your child a snack, no sweets allowed please! We'll have a tuck box in operation that included in the camp's cost.
Sunday only cubs
Non campers need to wear neckers and hiking boots, but no uniforms. They must dress for the weather, including bringing full rain gear and a hat and gloves and a day bag with water and cutlery and a plate. Please don't forget the cutlery and plate as we probably won't have spares!
They should also bring a small folding chair or picnic blanket. They can bring snacks, but no sweets please. We'll be serving lunch and having smores for dessert.
And finally Covid...
Hopefully, this is one of last times we'll need to include this in our plans. As usual we'd ask you to use your common sense and keep your child home if they have symptoms or you have concerns they have Covid. This is especially important for campers as they will be sharing tents.
