Hi. We're doing a camp from Friday 24th September to Sunday 26th in Larch Hill Scout Scout Camp. This is a joint camp with the Thursday night cub troop.
Here’s the overview of the camp:
Cost: The cost will be 35 euros (this includes food, camping fees and larch hill staff led activities).
Note: There is an additional one off tent rental cost of 13 euros for all cubs camping for the first time this weekend (i.e. all new cubs starting this year). This cost is due to covid as we have had to buy individual tents for every cub.
Payment should be given to a leader in Larch Hill on Friday in an envelope marked with the cub's name .
Covid-era camping: Cubs will all sleep in their own individual tents and no one else is allowed to enter their tent. All activities will be outside (except for trips to the toilet – we’re not that adventurous) and we’ll try to ensure all activities are non-contact. Cub will need their own hand sanitisers too.
Gear list for Kids: Here's the finalised gear list for camp from here! . It’s most important that they have good rain gear (both rain trousers and jacket), hiking boots and that they’re warm and cosy in their tent so pack accordingly!! And don't forget both the sun cream and mozzie spray – we hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
Note: It's a nut free camp due to allergy concerns. Please advise us if your cub has any specific dietary requirements.
Consent forms: These are irritating, but unfortunately necessary. When you drop your cub off on Friday we'll need:
- A consent form specifically for this camping trip. Hard copies were given out to the cubs but you can print one out from here too.
- We're still missing some cubs' annual consent forms so that should be given on Friday if it hasn't been handed in yet. It's here.
- If your cub may need medicine given to them during the camp, a managing medications form will need to be completed for them and this should be discussed with a leader during the drop off.
Important Note: Cubs should not attend if they or anyone in their household may have Covid 19 or have had symptoms such as high temp, cough, shortness of breath or change in sense of smell/taste in the last 14 days.
Also if you do carpool to and from the camp, please use common sense and keep the windows open and maybe wear masks.
An equally important note: We would encourage all cubs, new and old alike, to participate in the camp and we’ll do our best to support any home sick cubs. We have deliberately chosen a local camp site (15 mins from den) so you will need to keep phones nearby just in case your cub is unable to settle and you need to drive up and collect your cub. We’d also encourage the cubs pack teddies and duvets to make their tents cozy and homely.
Ideally we’d like cubs to attend the full weekend, but if there’s key reasons this won’t be possible then we're very flexible to support the cub to participate.
Schedule:
