Congratulations to our Scouts who took part in the County Shield from the 3rd to the 5th May in Larch Hill. This is a competition that tests the teamwork and scouting skills of Scouts from across Montpellier Scout County.
The 37th was well represented, with our Shield team, led by Roisin, coming third overall. This required a very high level of campcraft. It is a huge achievement for the Scouts as first, second and third placed teams go forward to represent the County at the national Phoenix scoutcraft competition.
The Shield team also took home the Base trophy for their scouting skills. This year the bases were hillwalking, pioneering, backwoods and communication.
Our Novice team was awarded first place in the novice competition. Only three of the eight scouts on the Novice teams are experienced so there is a more basic campcraft requirement. They also took home just about every other award they could, ably led by Katherine, who won best Patrol Leader!
We are very proud of the achievements of all our Scouts and a big thank you must also go out to all of the Scouters who helped make the event happen. Well done to all involved!
